Carbon Reduction Plan

PMCE Services and PMCES South Ltd are fully committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050, in line with the UK Government’s target. 

As specialist engineering consultancies operating with small, agile teams, we recognise our responsibility to embed sustainability into our operations and lead by example in the built environment sector. PMCE Services and PMCES South operate with core remote-working teams of fewer than five individuals and maintain no permanent office locations. Our operational model is digital-first and subcontractor-supported, enabling a minimal carbon footprint while maintaining high-quality service delivery.

Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline Emissions: < 1 tCO₂e 

Emissions are currently estimated based on energy use associated with home working, limited business travel, and digital service use. Formal tracking will commence as part of future annual review cycles.

Main contributors include:

• Remote working (home office energy consumption)

• Occasional business travel

• Use of digital platforms and data hosting services

Carbon Reduction Initiatives 

PMCE Services and PMCES South have implemented the following actions to minimise our environmental impact:

• Fully remote operations, eliminating commuting and office-related emissions

• Preference for virtual meetings and collaboration

• Digital-first, paperless workflows

• Cloud-based platforms chosen for energy efficiency

• Sustainable criteria in subcontractor and supplier selection

• Promotion of energy-efficient home working practices

Planned Future Actions 

To further support our Net Zero ambition, we will:

• Implement formal carbon tracking and emissions reporting tools

• Offset essential travel through certified carbon offset programmes

• Apply environmental criteria across procurement and project delivery

• Encourage subcontractors and suppliers to align with Net Zero principles

• Publish annual updates to this Carbon Reduction Plan to reflect progress and new commitments

Declaration and Governance 

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been developed in accordance with PPN 06/21 and reflects our current business structures, values, and sustainability objectives. It has been approved by the Directors of both PMCE Services and PMCES South, and will be reviewed and updated annually to reflect the ongoing development of the businesses.
