OUR HISTORY & FUTURE

2020 – A Spark of Inspiration

In the heart of Scotland, during the chaos of the COVID-19 pandemic, Peter saw an opportunity. PMCE Services (also known as North) was born—just one man with a passion for innovative, sustainable design, and a knack for tackling engineering challenges head-on. What started as a small operation quickly snowballed into something bigger as demand grew across Scotland and England. But Peter knew he couldn’t be everywhere at once, as much as he tried.

2024 – Expanding Horizons: A Partnership Is Born

Enter Alex, a fellow engineering enthusiast working remotely in London. With shared values and a vision for cutting-edge, practical engineering solutions, Peter and Alex teamed up to create PMCES South. Together, they merged their expertise, forming a dynamic team across the UK, committed to collaboration, innovation, and, of course, engineering excellence.

Present – Remote, Yet Connected

Today, both PMCE Services (North) and PMCES South are thriving as fully remote companies, but the connection between Peter, Alex, and their teams has never been stronger. Whether they’re designing the future with the latest software or tackling unique building challenges, their approach remains rooted in trust, adaptability, and professional independence. It’s not just about the job—it’s about creating lasting relationships and delivering exceptional results.

Future – Bigger Dreams, New Frontiers

Looking ahead, Peter and Alex have big plans. They’re not stopping at the UK. The next stop? North America and Europe, with offices slated for Switzerland, where they’ll be close to the Large Hadron Collider, continuing their pursuit of innovation and groundbreaking engineering solutions.

PETER McELROY CEng MCIBSE DIRECTOR OF PMCE SERVICES & PMCES SOUTH

Peter McElroy is a chartered building services engineer with a passion for designing smart, sustainable, and cost-effective solutions. Since 2014, he has worked in the construction industry, gaining experience in both consultancy and contracting roles.

After earning his BEng (Hons) from Glasgow Caledonian University, he completed an MSc in Building Services Engineering in 2017. His career spans global design consultancies and M&E specialist contractors, giving him a well-rounded perspective on project delivery—from concept to completion. This combination of strategic thinking and hands-on experience shapes his approach to engineering today.

Peter believes great engineering balances theory and practice, where innovation happens at the intersection of ideas and execution. Committed to continuous learning, he embraces new perspectives and challenges conventional thinking to drive better outcomes.

With experience designing for a diverse range of organisations, Peter established his consultancy to offer a more tailored, client-focused approach. His work prioritises sustainability, innovation, and delivering real value to businesses and communities.

Peter is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of engineering and shaping a smarter built environment.

ALEX ELLIOTT CEng MCIBSE DIRECTOR OF PMCES SOUTH

Alex Elliott is a chartered engineer with a background spanning renewable energy, sustainable design, and mechanical engineering. After completing his BSc in Biochemistry at the University of Kent, he went on to earn an MSc in Renewable Energy and Sustainability from the University of Reading.

Alex’s career has taken him across a range of sectors, including bioenergy, vertical farming, and energy systems. Working on cutting-edge projects such as anaerobic digestion plants and heat pump systems, he has developed expertise in energy, asset auditing, system optimisation, project design and management. His experience extends beyond consultancy, having led projects in energy conservation and sustainable design, always with a focus on delivering smart, cost-effective, and innovative solutions.

A strong believer in the power of collaboration, Alex values a pragmatic approach to problem-solving—one that balances technical excellence with real-world practicality.

Alex is a true country boy at heart, embodying the philosophy that buildings should be like trees and cities should thrive like forests. His profound understanding of the natural world doesn’t just inform his design—it shapes it, allowing him to craft solutions that are both innovative and inherently sustainable. This deep-rooted perspective grants him a broad technical competence, blending ecological wisdom with engineering precision.
